Film Project: Partition of 1947
This project is for those with lived memories of the India-Pakistan Partition of 1947, who currently reside in the USA (whether permanently or temporarily), specifically in the DC-MD-VA area. This project focuses on using storytelling, history, and self-truth to give agency after trauma.
For this ethnographic film, I am interviewing and filming those willing to discuss their memories of forced migration during the Partition.
The collection of these stories is important for the South Asian diaspora to understand their ancestry and identity. And it is necessary for us to learn from this last generation with lived memories of the Partition, who we are beginning to lose.
If you or a relative was alive during the Partition of 1947 and is residing in the DMV, please contact me below to be a part of this project. I will reach out to you soon.
